I was born in Kansas but grew up in oklahoma. I married a kansas man and have live here for 22 years. What bothers me most of all about kansas, there are hardly any shoulders on the roads and highways.
This is where people could ride bikes and walk. The healthy states have places for people to go to enjoy out door activities. If you have garden, well lighted, & safe environment to walk or run, people will go there. Paces to ride their off road vehicles. Kansas has the worse roads in the United States. Riding on the shoulders that you do have in Southeast Kansas is like riding on an old time wash board. These black roads do nothing but attract & build more heat.
The red roads are the best they do not contribute to golbal warming. If you really want a healthy state create in every township, city & rural area a place for people to enjoy outdoor activities. Do not commercialize it either. A Casino is a heart attact magnet, but thats another story.

None of that crap should have been built in the first place. The city never needed a bypass and 40 didn't need to be widened. All of this is being done for the developers. Just look around the area-- Schwada owns quite a bit of land in that area and I'm sure he's pushing for a plan to let him exploit it.
